Junction 21 Enterprise Zone

Junction 21 Enterprise Area (J21EA) comprises a number of well-connected development areas to the West of Junction 21 of the M5 Motorway. Through the establishment of Junction 21 Enterprise Area, North Somerset Council and West of England Local Enterprise Partnership have prioritised the development of several sectors, including: Hi-skilled manufacturing, food innovation and financial and professional activities.

Some 20 miles south of Bristol and the M4/M5 interchange J21EA capitalises on its clear strengths – good transport links, diverse enterprising economy, highly skilled and motivated talent pool and significant available land and existing premises. The sheer range of opportunity across J21EA presents unrivalled prospects to access markets develop supply chains across Bristol, Bath, the South West, South Wales and M5 Corridor.

In recognition of each business having its own requirements, North Somerset Council has developed a close working relationship with key landowners, developers and partner agencies to identify appropriate funding and other opportunities to facilitate targeted investment on a case-by-case basis.

J21EA will see investment leading to the creation of 9-10,000 jobs by 2030. It forms the employment element of the Weston Villages development; this is the creation of two new settlements of some 9,000 homes to the east of Weston-super-Mare town.
