Business Innovation Fund - register your details for the next application window

Get help to accelerate innovation and bring new products, processes and services to market with the Business Innovation Fund. Applications are currently closed however a second window is coming soon in 2021. You can register your details with us now and we'll alert you when the window opens.

Business Growth Grants - currently closed for applications

Business Growth Grants are designed to support SMEs in the West of England with their plans to drive growth by implementing new business practices or adopting new ways of working.

The grants are applicable to businesses across all sectors, from sole traders to established SMEs.

Universal Business Support

Our Universal Business Support programme provides training and expert advice for business owners and those wanting to become business owners. Understand regulations, requirements and best practice when setting up a new business. Access a range of one to one support, workshops and resources for everything from digital marketing to accountancy

It's free and open to all entrepreneurs, start up businesses and established SMEs in the West of England - that’s Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.


Intellectual Property

Your business is likely to own or use Intellectual Property (IP). This might include your business name, logo, website, technical innovation and the look of your products to name but a few. 

These important assets which often go unrecognised, can play and important role in the sustainability and growth of your business both domestically and internationally. All businesses need to protect their IP, and with the EU transition coming, you need to prepare now more than ever. 

Rose Review Female Entrepreneurs Mentoring Programme

NatWest has partnered with Be the Business to bring you a free mentoring service for female entrepreneurs in the West of England. Backed by the government, this free 12-week mentoring programme gives female SME leaders and entrepreneurs access to advice and guidance to build their businesses.

To take part, you need to:

  • Run an established business
  • Identify as a woman
  • Live or run a business in the West of England Combined Authority Area.

Effective Digital Entrepreneurship & Business Support for non EU migrants (EDEBS)

This programme supports the launch, stabilisation and growth of non-EU migrants’ businesses through personalised business support.

Our EDEBS project will support businesses through a network of volunteer mentors in the business sector, a digital platform for learning & training resources and one-to-one coaching. Led by ACH and with partners from Bristol’s School for Policy Studies and the West of England Combined Authority. This project has been part funded by the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.

Accountancy Support Programme - currently closed for applications

This programme is delivered in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Get a day's worth of fully-funded support and a free check up to fully understand your financial position and improve resilience in current challenges. 

Be the Business Spark Learning Sessions on finance

A new programme designed to give you the confidence to manage your company's finances. Understanding finances is vital to the success of any business. It means planning for the future, whilst keeping control of your cash flow right now. It’s about having your long-term financial goals in mind, whilst making tricky day to day spending decisions.

These Spark Learning Sessions will give you insight and get you talking. They’ll give you the confidence to tackle the gaps in your financial knowledge. You’ll get a whole range of support, tools and resources, and build up an action plan to improve your business finances.

Export and trade

A pilot Export Academy scheme has been introduced to support smaller businesses in the South West begin their exporting journey. Applicable to a wide range of businesses, whether you want to start exporting, or you’re aiming to enter new markets, we’ll help you overcome many of the common challenges that small businesses can face.

The Export Academy will deliver a series of activities that will build your capabilities, creating a new cohort of confident businesses ready to trade.

This pilot programme is designed for owners and senior managers of businesses, and to qualify your business must:

  • have a turnover of up to £500,000
  • be located in the Midlands, North of England or the South West of England
