The Small Business Grants Discretionary Fund

The Small Business Grants Discretionary Fund will provide a discretionary grant up to a value of £5,000 to eligible businesses, charities and community organisations.

The discretionary fund has been established to support small businesses impacted by Coronavirus previously outside the scope of the business grant fund schemes (the Small Business Grant Fund and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund). The discretionary fund was established by the Government and is administered by the local authorities - in the West of England, the grants will be administered by Bristol City Council, Bath & North East Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council, and North Somerset Council.

 Eligibility

The grants will support some small and micro businesses directly impacted by Covid-19 that meet the following eligibility criteria:

The fund will also support some charities and community organisations in receipt of mandatory charitable business rates relief that otherwise would have been eligible for Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rate Relief and are not eligible under the existing grant schemes.

The Retail, Hospitality  and Leisure Grant Scheme

This fund provides businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors with a cash grant of up to £25,000 per property.

Businesses in these sectors with a rateable value of under £15,000, will receive a grant of £10,000.

Businesses in these sectors with a rateable value of between £15,001 and £51,000, will receive a grant of £25,000.

The Small Business Grant Fund

The government will provide a one-off grant of £10,000 to around 700,000 small businesses currently eligible for SBRR or Rural Rate Relief to help meet ongoing business costs.
